Inspired by the musical Oliver, WELL-SEASONED GREETINGS celebrates the role food plays in our holiday season — becoming a means through which we share a time of thanks, peace, joy and love with family and friends. The work seeks to bring the spirit of a full pantry to folks from all walks of life and all corners of the world.

Foodie Festivus — Let’s Talk Live

Glowing decorations uniquely created from a variety of food-service vessels and tableware come together in a cluster of light and sparkle. Glass plates, cups, bowls, platters, tumblers and stemware combine to form prismatic hanging ornaments. Snowflakes and stars are crafted from spatulas and spoons; take-out containers inspire folded metal lantern designs. Strings of silver “u-tinsels” drape throughout, and a “star” comprised of blue glass bottles tops everything off.

Standing at 35 feet tall, WELL-SEASONED GREETINGS was the focal point for Downtown Silver Spring’s 4th annual Re-Imagining the Holidays celebration. Titled Foodie Festivus, this seven-week run featured special events, musical performances and food and drink specials from many local restaurants.

With a view to those less fortunate, visitors to the plaza were also invited to bring a non-perishable food donation for a local charity. More can be found on Downtown Silver Spring’s webpage for this project,,here
